The difference between annuals and perennials
The main difference between these two varieties is their lifespan. Annuals have a single-season life cycle. Because they can’t withstand our winters, they don’t grow back the following year. Perennials, by contrast, grow back from the base every year, and have a fairly long lifespan. After a certain time, it is possible to divide the plants if they grow too massive. Annual plants are very interesting, as they bloom for most of the summer and can be used to create different combinations from year to year. Perennial plants are different in that they hardly bloom the first year, as they concentrate their energy on taking root in the soil, then make a strong comeback the following year. Our expert gardeners recommend planting a mix of annuals and perennials to create a balanced, colorful combination all summer long!

Low-maintenance perennial flowers and ornamental grasses for your flowerbeds
If you have very little time to devote to your plants, opt for perennials and decorative grasses. They require little attention and are ideal for coping with our cold winters. These plants will effortlessly grace your flowerbeds with their vibrant greenery, supple foliage, and texture. Certain varieties of perennial ornamental grass, such as Miscanthus, Pennisetum, and Calamagrostis, will enhance your outdoor spaces all year round, even in the winter season.
